I deserve a break, don’t I?

I had just finished a 30-day writing challenge (and loved it!). I had three jobs. I was tired and out of ideas. I figured I could take a break from writing.

Just a week or so.

I published a story on June 2.

And the next one …

on August 3.

A little break, huh?

It was supposed to be a little break to replenish my energy and find inspiration.

However, the sneaky side effects of taking time away from writing started to show up. The break from writing released two of my demons:

  • Imposter syndrome
  • Procrastination

Imposter syndrome is loosely defined as doubting your abilities and feeling like a fraud (1). Procrastination is delaying your tasks. Probably familiar to everybody.

A short break from writing, caused me to doubt myself and ignore my intentions to write.

It took over 2 months before I managed to write another story.
